About
I live in Seattle, Washington. My husband of almost 26 years and I enjoy spending time near the water of Elliott Bay, Puget Sound, from our condo on Alki in West Seattle. We have two miniature Schnauzers (our furkids), and between the two of us we have raised 4 children. Combined, we have 5 grandchildren who all live with their parents (our grown children) in Washington state. When not having fun with them, we enjoy riding our bikes or spending time at our extended family's vacation condo--about 2.5 hours west of Seattle in Ocean Shores on the west coast of our state.
My husband was laid off from his job at Nordstrom at the end of September, where he was a claims adjuster for the last 4 years.
This was a shock to us both; now he is trying to decide what to do next. Will it be scrambling to find a new full-time job, or take early retirement (uh hum . . . he's older than I am). If he decides on the latter, we may want to sell and move to a less expensive area (probably Ocean Shores, WA, since I've been assured by my boss that I can keep my job--since I work from home most of the time anyway). Just goes to show that in the blink of an eye, everything can change. All the more reason to enjoy what you have to the greatest degree possible. You never know when it might all change or be taken away from you. I try to be grateful for the blessings in my life--daily--realizing that life can throw you a curve ball without notice! But like my mother always says, "Things could be so much worse."
